Mind Reactive, Mind Creative

Mind Reactive, Mind Creative

Wed Evenings from 21st Sept to 26th Oct - 7.00pm to 9.15pm

This six-week sangha night theme is based upon Sangharakshita's classic lecture which helps us to understand the effect our mental processes have on our lives. If we can train ourselves to be aware of our minds and to act creatively in every moment (rather than simply react) then, Sangharakshita says, this will lead us towards Awakening and a contented and fulfilling life.

Each Wednesday Evening from 21st September to 26th October, through talks and discussion, we will be looking at how we can turn reactivity in the world into a more creative approach. Open to both regulars and newcomers.

An Ever-Widening Circle - The Official Opening of York Buddhist Centre

Saturday 8 October 10:30am – 4:30pm

This is a day of celebration, rejoicing, meditation, talks and ritual to mark the opening of our new Buddhist Centre at 17 Walmgate. There will be a dedication ceremony and meditation, chanting, socialising, a puja and a big friendly get-together to celebrate the new Centre and the five significant years since the foundation of a Triratna sangha in York.

The event is in-person only and booking is essential as numbers are limited. The York sangha has priority booking until 11th September. After 12th September booking is open to all our friends in the Triratna movement.

Mitra Ceremony

Mitra Ceremony

Wednesday 9 November 7pm – 9:15pm

Becoming a mitra (which means "friend") is a significant step someone's spiritual life. It is a declaration that they consider themselves to be a Buddhist within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. It is also a commitment to deepening their practice. This is a significant occasion both for the new mitras and those who witness them as they become mitras.

The evening will begin at 6.30 for 7.00pm with cake and refreshments. All are welcome

We also run classes & events in Scarborough
