Faith and Confidence in The Spiritual Life

Faith and Confidence in The Spiritual Life

Saturday 13 March 2021 – Sunday 14 March 2021

Faith or sraddha in Buddhist Practice arises out of experience. It is not something that we are told to believe in. The Buddha said that although we should take advice from the Wise, we should always test his teaching against our own experience of it. So sraddha springs from within, it is full of joy and it comes from a sense that what we are doing feels right. It helps us to keep going when life is hard. And, ultimately, it can lead us to the peace and serenity of Awakening.

“Again Master Padma said: “Tsogyal to escape samsaric existence you must have faith in path of liberation
That is to say that faith arises in dependence on causes and conditions and not on its own …”
From Advice from The Lotus Born (Padmasambhava)

As faith is essential on the spiritual path we will be exploring the questions:
What is faith in Buddhism and what are the causes and conditions that help it to arise and grow?
Come and join us for a day of meditation, short talks, group discussions and devotional practice
