Wed PRACTICE Night:
Cultivating the Noble Qualities of Awakening

The Six Perfections or paramitas are the transcendental qualities enjoyed by a Bodhisattva - someone who is on the verge of Buddhahood but chooses to remain in the world in order to help all beings free themselves from suffering.

These are very lofty ideals indeed, yet they are also familiar qualities which we aim to cultivate in our spiritual lives.

They are: dana (generosity), sila (ethics), ksanti (forbearance), virya (spiritual energy), dhyana (meditative bliss) and prajna (wisdom).

Over these six weeks we will be looking at each of these qualities in detail, exploring how they relate to our own lives and seeing how we can cultivate each of them more and more as we lead our lives day-by-day.

Each evening will begin as usual with a meditation and, after the break, we'll explore each paramita in turn.

All over 18 are welcome. No experience of Buddhism is necessary. No need to book - just turn up.

PLEASE MAKE A DONATION for this session. We do not charge for our Wednesday classes but instead, rely on your generosity to help us pay for our substantial running costs. We suggest £12 per class - but please give more or less according to your means.
No one is paid at York Buddhist Centre. Our only income comes from those who use the centre.
