Padmasambhava Puja and Meditation in the Woods

This is the last of our Summer Woodland Meditation and Puja Evenings amongst the trees in Rowntree Park and mostly by candlelight tonight. 

Do come along and lets end our summer woodland events with a real flourish (and quite a bit of noise - see below)

Tonight we will be performing a puja to the Great Guru Padmasambhava. This is a poetical devotional practice which invites us to connect with something much greater than ourselves - in this case the wisdom and devotion of Padmasambhava.

Padmasambhava - also known as Guru Rimpoche - was an Enlightened Being who lived in the 8th or 9th centuries and was responsible for taking Buddhism into Tibet. He is regarded as a magician with extensive powers to tame demons and work for the good of all beings - and there are many mythical tales surrounding his life. 

Pujas to Padmasambhava are energetic and can include some dancing and much noise. We invite you to bring any percussion instuments that you may have such as a drum, rattle, triangle or tambourine. So that we can invoke Padmasambhava to join us beneath the trees. 

Please also bring a torch as it will be dark when we finish plus something to sit on - there are wooden logs but a cushion would make them more comfortable - something natural to offer to the shrine (perhaps a flower, an acorn or a fir cone) and a drink for the break.

Open to all over 18 - You don’t need to be a Buddhist or intend to be one

PLEASE MAKE A DONATION for this event if you can. Apart from some registration fees, we do not charge for our classes but instead, rely on your generosity to help us pay for our substantial running costs. We suggest £12 for this event - but please give more or less according to your means. 

No one is paid at York Buddhist Centre. Our only income comes from those who use the centre.
