Finding Peace in a Turbulent World: An Introduction to Buddhism

Finding Peace in a Turbulent World: An Introduction to Buddhism

Six Tuesday Evenings plus optional Wednesday evening on 4th March

True happiness can be elusive. Good times so easily give way to anxiety, anger, disappointment and other painful states. Yet much of the suffering we experience can be avoided. Buddhism is a radically different vision of religion. Without belief in a creator god, it envisions an life of connection - with others, with the natural world and with our own precious lives.

Buddhism is very practical and practised regularly, the teachings can lead us to much calmer, more positive states of mind.  And, ultimately, to a true happiness which is unaffected by the ups and downs of life.

This course will help you to identify what creates unhappiness in your life and will give you the practical tools to change the way that you respond to the difficult and uncomfortable situations and thoughts that you meet during every day.

Each week will begin with a guided meditation* and then, after a tea break we will introduce practical, down-to-earth teachings to help you transform your life in 2025. There will be short workshops and an opportunity to ask questions and relate the teachings to your own life and experience.

*Meditation also helps us to transform our lives: The Mindfulness of Breathing is an effective way to calm the mind and Metta Bhavana (Loving Kindness Meditation) helps us cultivate positive emotion for ourselves and others, helping to create harmony in the world and in our own mental states.

Booking is essential as places are limited
