Saying Goodbye and Rejoicing in Amalasara's Merits
Wednesday 29 May 2024 7pm – 9:15pm
Amalasara was one of the founder members of the York Buddhist Group back in 2017 when we first started and has worked tirelessly over the years to build what is now the York Buddhist Centre. She has been a member of the Centre Team, our Safeguarding Officer, a trustee and our first Mitra Convenor. She also became one of York's first new Order members when she got ordained, along with Maitrikirana, in July 2022.
However lives and circumstances change. Amalasara feels that it is time to step back from her responsibilities at York which have included leading study, teaching and meeting up with mitras. She has a young family. with whom she wishes to spend more time, and a demanding job which means that she can no longer make the journey from Leeds to York so regularly, so it makes much more sense for her to practice at the Leeds Centre which is closer to where she lives.
This evening is a thank-you to Amalasara for all that she has done for us in York and a celebration of a Dharmacarini who has devoted so much time and energy to the well-being of the sangha in York. Do come and join us on this special evening, rejoice in Amalasara's many merits and send her off with all our appreciation and love. The evening will be held in the context of a Three-Fold Puja.
All over 18 are welcome.
