Prajna Paramita - The Goddess of Wisdom
Wednesday 29th November - 7.00pm to 9.15pm
Prajñāpāramitā, the Goddess of Wisdom is a personification of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras and of the Heart Sutra in particular. She is also known as "Mother of all the Buddhas" and signifies ultimate transcendental wisdom - the wisdom that sees things as they are, empty of self and other. This is considered the highest form of wisdom ( prajna ).
Tonight Mark will be exploring the world of Prajna Paramita and her emblems which include the lotus, the book, the vajra, the sword, the mala and the begging bowl as well as relating her to the arising of the paradoxical Mahayana texts from whence she sprang.
A fascinating and powerful symbol of Enlightened Wisdom.
