Wed PRACTICE Night: The Path of Practice
Wednesday 18 February 7pm – 9:15pm
When we meet the Dharma something very mysterious and wonderful happens to many of us. Sometimes for the first time in our lives we discover a profound meaning to our lives. This may be enough, at least to begin with, but as time progresses, many of us feel that we need to go further and, in some way, deepen our practice and our commitment to our practice.
This evening members of our mitra sangha will be exploring what this means.
What is the Path of Practice in Triratna?
Actually there is no pressure in Triratna to do anything at all, if you don't want to! We welcome those who have only casual interest in Buddhism and those who are committed to practice but prefer to remain as friends.
However, many people eventually feel the need to make a deeper commitment to their practice and become what we call mitras. Some people wish to go even further and ask to train to be members of the Triratna Buddhist Order.
Tonight, through short talks and discussions, we'll be exploring what it means to become a mitra; how you become one; the positive effects it can have on your life and relationships; and how it opens the door to three further years of the mitra study course and other special retreats at Triratna retreat centres.
There will be no pressure at all to become a mitra - this is just an opportunity to see what is involved.
There will also be a short talk about what it means to ‘ask for Ordination’ and the deepening path to becoming an Order member.
All over 18 welcome.
No need to book - just turn up on the night.
There is no charge for our classes but please make a donation if you can. We suggest £12 per class - but please give more or less
according to your means. No one is paid at York Buddhist Centre. Our only income comes from those who use the centre.
