Day Retreat
Going Deeper in Meditation
Sunday 23 March 10:30am – 4pm
Cultivating Samadhi (complete concentration) and the Dhyana states of Rapture, Joy and Equanimity
As our meditation practice develops and our mind becomes more supple and open to some control, we can begin to access states that were previously unobtainable. Samadhi is a state of ‘just being’ where thought processes have ceased and the mind and body are perfectly still. The dhyanas are progressive states of deepening meditation where our minds and bodies progress from feeling of rapture to complete peacefulness and equanimity.
We can't make any of these states happen by will but we can set up conditions which encourage them to appear. In this Day Retreat Shakyapada will talk about these states, how we can access them and lead various meditations to help us go deeper into our individual meditative states.
Open to all those over 18 who have a regular meditation practice.
Places are limited to 20 so booking is essential. Please click the link below.
There is a booking fee of £5 for the day but we ask you to also make a donation of £15 to £20 on the day, if you can, or when booking. York Buddhist Centre has no outside income or support and no one is paid. These classes are given freely in a spirit of friendship. However we do have rent to pay and utilities and other running costs and we could not meet these without the generous support of those who use our centre.
Please bring vegan lunch to share.
