DAYTIME Course:
Exploring Buddhist Practice
The Buddha discovered the path to true happiness 2,500 years ago and now people in the West are benefitting more and more from his practical advice. Join us on this new course which, over 13 weeks, will explore practical ways to calm our busy minds and change our lives for the better.
Surprisingly, this doesn't mean 'becoming religious' but rather, exploring how we create our own pain and learning different ways of dealing with the difficulties in our lives.
The course will include: training in mindfulness through meditation, exploring how we can be kinder to ourselves and others, the importance of ethics and friendship, understanding myth and ritual, and learning about the Buddhist concept of death and rebirth.
This course is open to everyone over 18. There is no pressure to become a Buddhist - this course is simply intended to help you live your life in a more peaceful and fulfilling way.
A book of the course by Vajragupta is also available from the centre for £12.99
BOOK A PLACE: Please book a place by following the link below. There is no charge but a donation each week would be appreciated (see below)
DONATIONS: York Buddhist Centre has no outside income or support and no one is paid. These classes are given freely in a spirit of friendship. However we do have rent to pay and utilities and other running costs and we could not meet these without the generous support of those who use our centre. So, if you can, we ask you to make a donation either when you book or each week when you attend. We suggest £10 each week or around £125 for the whole course but please give more or less according to your means.
